Twitch(v)

  1. to make a sudden, small, usually involuntary movement with a part of the body, often resulting from discomfort or agitation.

  2. to pursue, spot and record rare bird species, often resulting in discomfort or agitation.

For this commision, I designed a TV Bible in the style of a well-thumbed bird watching guide, to match the witty content of the proposed TV show.

The client wanted the deliverable to feel real so I sourced images in the public domain, from museum archives and public galleries, of images and items that existed in real-life. We used postcards and love-letters, buttons, badges and feathers to ground the work - giving it legs to stand out against competitors.

It was a wonderful project to work on, full of puns and historical references, and it truly felt like a homage to British culture and wildlife.

Premise:
“Twitchers is a comedy about crimes against rare birds. It’s a mystery story set to the backdrop of a Louis Theroux Weird Weekend. It’s a love letter to Britain’s natural world, and the everyday eccentrics who celebrate it in an endless battle of competitive birdwatching. Sometimes it’s slow TV landscapes and beautiful close-ups of British fauna; sometimes a hooded figure is slashing your tyres or threatening to beat you to death with a monocular. I’d watch that.”
